Composition alumna Jacy Pedersen awarded full scholarship to University of Massachusetts Amherst

Jacy Pedersen (BM '16) has been awarded a full tuition scholarship to the University of Massachusetts Amherst to pursue a Masters Degree in Music Theory beginning in fall 2016. In addition, she has also been appointed to work for the university as a graduate teaching assistant for Theory I and III classes under the direction of Prof. Jason Hooper. This position comes with a stipend of $14,000 as well as other university employee benefits.
During her time at the University of Texas at Arlington, Ms. Pedersen was well recognized in the music composition community, winning the TMEA Collegiate Composition Contest in the orchestra division, as well as being named a semifinalist (2015) and finalist (2016) for the Talis Festival in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. These successes have led to multiple commission requests and an advertisement and distribution agreement with Pender’s Music Co.
